Sue Ann Staton

September 24, 1957 — June 16, 2013

New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Sue Ann Staton, 55, on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 10:30 AM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Ed Degeyter officiating.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 7:00 AM until services.

A native of Youngsville and a resident of Jeanerette, Sue passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at 2:14 PM in a New Iberia hospital.

She was a member of the American Business Womens Association, a member and former Chaplin of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was an avid Geneoligist. She was a Registered Nurse for 30 years and belonged to a number of nursing organizations.

She taught everyone many of lifes lessons through her courage, never say die attitude and her example to her peers. Her life was spent caring about others, her nieces and nephews, her patients and most recently the elderly at Village du Vie Apartments. Her kindness and generosity helped many through their trials and tribulations. She was a compassionate and consummate professional. Her family, friends and residents will miss her dearly.

She was survived by her brothers, Wayne Staton and his wife Janice of Pineville, Bryan Staton and his wife Janice of St. Martinville, Mark Staton and his wife Allison of Lafayette, Jamie Staton and his wife Rosangela and Willard Staton all of Miami, FL; her nieces, Karin Marie S. Hebert, Catherine Staton, Elizabeth S. Hamaker and Rebecca S. Rittenhouse; her nephews, Wayne Sinclair, James Staton, Bryan Staton, II, Eduardo Staton, Christopher Dupuis and Barrett Dupuis; 13 great nieces and nephews and her pet dog, Bandit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward and Marie Rouly Staton.

The family would like to give special thanks to her physician and friend, Dr. Vina Baker and her niece, Catherine Staton for the loving care given to Sue.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Diabetes and / or the Kidney Foundations.
