Jeanerette " A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Everette J. Gouner, III, 53, on Saturday June 22, 2013 at 11:30am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Fr. Jody Simoneaux officiating. Readings of Sacred Scripture will be lead by Liz Buteaux. Gift bearers will be Katy Champagne and Charlie Swain. Interment will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will begin Friday June 21, 2013 at 2:00pm until 9:00pm with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:30pm. Visitation will resume Saturday June 22, 2013 at 8:00am until the time of service.

A native and former resident of Jeanerette and resident of Brookshire, TX Mr. Gouner passed away Monday June 17, 2013 at 9:50am at St. Luke Episcopal Hospital in Houston, TX.

Everette was a graduate of St. Joseph High School (Class of 1977) and was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was owner and operator of Gouners Amaco for six years and Hubertville Grocery for 23 years in Jeanerette before moving to Brookshire,TX where he was employed with Brookshire Hardware. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, a Eucharistic Minister at Brookshire Nursing Home and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1425-Jeanerette, LA and Council-1286 Pattison, TX. Everette was an avid outdoorsman; he had a love for his yard, cooking and caring for his birds and turtles.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Ursula Becnel Gouner of Brookshire, TX; his mother, Rita Legnon Gouner of Jeanerette; his uncle, Junius Legnon of Jeanerette and aunts, Greta Gouner Halphen and Dorothy Legnon Dupre, both of Lafayette; Doris Legnon of Jeanerette and Luna Legnon Spangler of Hattiesburg, MS.

He was preceded in death by his father, Everette J. Gouner, Jr., paternal grandparents, Everette J. Gouner, Sr. and Lillian LeBlanc Gouner, maternal grandparents, Leonce and Bernadette LaGrange Legnon and aunts, Joy Gouner Perriloux and Joyce Gouner Breaux.

Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Switzer, Chris Kahn, Brett Bishop, Bryan Heber, Ralph Bergeron and Ray Champagne.

Honorary pallbearers will be Junius Legnon, Wyatt Tregle, Hunter Hebert, B.J. Becnel, Ricky Gravois, Wilbur Simoneaux, Lenny Guillot, Curt LeBlanc, Brett Breaux, Barry Breaux, Paul Dupre, Al Dupre, Michael ODonnel, T-Boy Hebert, Steve Buteaux, Joey Legnon and Johnny Legnon.
