Richard Joseph Andre

New Iberia- Funeral services for Mr. Richard Joseph Andre, age 86, will be held on Thursday June 27, 2013 at 2:00pm at the David Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Pam Roy to serve as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Rosehill Cemetery.

In keeping with Mr. Andres wishes, visitation will be from 8:30am until service time on Thursday June 27, 2013.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Andre passed away on Monday June 24, 2013 at 8:50pm at a local healthcare facility. Mr. Andre was a self employed carpenter for over 20 years. He embraced the philosophy, If you love what you do, then you never work a day in your life. With artistic talent and a creative mind, Mr. Andres work was his hobby. He was well liked in the community not only for his craftsmanship but also for his charm, smile, and his ability to make others smile. His mischievous side often showed, playing practical jokes on his loved ones. Mr. Andre also proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a wonderful man and will be missed by all that knew him.

Survivors include his children, Ruston Rusty Andre and wife Connie of New Iberia, Sunnie Andre Fontenot and husband David of Lawtell, La; grandchildren Courtney Andre, Alison Andre both of New Iberia, Amelie Fontenot of Lawtell, La; special friend, Joyce Terrell of New Iberia; sisters-in-law, Reverend Pam Roy and husband Vick of Welsh, Barbara Green, Hazel Andre both of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sallie Rush Andre; parents, Pierre and Emma Sieber Andre; and siblings, John Andre, Emma Warren, Helen St. Marie, Goldie Pazdan, and Robert Andre.

Honored to serve as Pallbearers will be Jacob Fitch, Victor Roy, Tim Green, Rusty Andre, David Fontenot, and Keith Babin.
