New Iberia " I have fought the fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7 Calley Romero Dugas, 94, a native of New Iberia, went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 13, 2013. Calley was a faithful parishioner of St. Peters Catholic Church in New Iberia. She loved the Lord and was devoted to Him. Her Faith in God brought her through being a three time cancer survivor. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, nannie and friend to all. She leaves behind her legacy of faith in God, strength, love and laughter. She will always be remembered by those whose heart she touched. She worked alongside her husband Fred Dugas, Sr. as secretary of Dugas Auto Repair in Loreauville and then in New Iberia. They had the good fortune of their son and his wife, F.J. and Barbara joining the business and working alongside of them. Calley and Fred were in the auto repair business for about 35 years. She loved her extended family and friends immensely. She loved to play cards with her card playing relatives and friends that graciously assisted her playing to the very end. She loved holidays, good times, the color red, celebrations, laughing and of course being the life of the party. Calley leaves behind to cherish her memories her son, F.J. Dugas, Jr. and his wife Barbara of New Iberia; two daughters Darlene Dugas Eldridge and husband Forrest of New Iberia and Calley Dugas Williams and husband Lynn of Morgan city; five grandchildren Ashley Dugas Gordon MD, and her husband Jimmy of Austin, Texas, Forrest Eldridge, Jr. of New Iberia, Hilarie Eldridge Pengelly and her husband Simon of Covington, Carley Williams of Baton Rouge and Lance Williams of Mandeville, two great grandchildren Engelique Pengelly and Ysabel Pengelly; a sister Vernet Laperouse of New Iberia, and numerous nieces and nephews; her best friends Vera Fulgham, Norma Langlinais, Tom and Glenda House and her fun loving card playing buddies.
