Trudy Rivet Fargo

Lydia " Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Lucas Fargo, Sr., the former Trudy Rivet, 63, on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 1:00 PM at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Father Gregory Chauvin officiating. Entombment will follow St. Nicholas Mausoleum.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 9, 2013, from11:00 AM until 9:00 PM and reopen on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 9:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Friday at 6:30 PM.

A native of Weeks Island, a former resident of Lafayette until 1998 and a current resident of Lydia, Mrs. Fargo passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 4:10 AM at her residence after a long battle with lung cancer.

She taught at Hopkins Elementary School for 20 years, teaching the first grade for 19 years and the fourth grade for 1 year. She enjoyed watching reality shows on TV, reading, spending time with her grandchildren, taking her grandchildren to the movies, bowling, playing on her computer especially Mahjong , poker and going to the casino every now and then. She especially loved her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Fargo of Lydia; her grandchildren, Mykal and Layla Fargo both of Lydia; her sister, Connie Rivet Eskind and her husband Dwayne of Lydia; her niece and godchild, Karly Eskind of New Iberia and her step-grandchildren, Chase, Alex and Hunter Guillory all of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lucas Fargo, Sr.; her parents, Howard Bobby and Helen Meche Rivet and her son, Lucas Fargo, Jr..

Pallbearers will be Dwayne Eskind, Mykal Fargo, Chelsey Fortson, Carl Meche, Chris Meche and Ricky Thibodeaux.

Honorary pallbearers will be Layla Fargo, Chase, Alex, Hunter Guillory, Lucas Fargo, Jr., Karly Eskind, Blaine Meche and Shari Tarbutton.

In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to St. Judes Children Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place in Memphis, TN 38105.

The family would like to thank Dr. Rinaldi, Dr. Krayczyk and all the family and friends who helped during her illness.
