Jeanerette " Funeral services will be conducted for Joy Rita Hebert-Griffin, age 81, on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at 2:00 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 27, 2013, from 10:00 AM until service. A native of Jeanerette and resident of Maurice and former resident of Jeanerette Joy Rita passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013, at 8:50 AM at Pelican Point Health Care and Rehab Center in Maurice. Joy Rita delivered groceries in Jeanerette on her bike and owned and operated Ira Street Grocery when she was a young lady. She worked for Hubertville grocery for 8 years. She is survived by her sons, David Griffin, Edward Griffin and his wife Dawn of Gulfport, Mississippi, Clafair Clay Griffin and his wife Debbie of Lafayette; her brother, Ulysse Hebert and his wife Mercedes of Jeanerette; her godchild, Sterling Hebert of New Iberia; her step-daughter, Peggy Domingue of Lafayette; her step-son, Weakless LeBlanc, Jr. of Jeanerette; 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clafair and Eomay Duval Hebert. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
