Clara Landry Dupre

Lydia- A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Richard Dupre, the former Clara Landry, age 90, will be held on Tuesday August 20, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Msgr. Jace Eskind officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery in Patoutville.

Visitation will begin Monday August 19, 2013 at 4:00pm and conclude at 9:00pm with a recitation of the rosary at 6:30pm. Visitation will resume on Tuesday August 20, 2013 from 8:00am until service time.

A native of Patoutville and Resident of Lydia, Mrs. Dupre passed away on Sunday August 18, 2013 at 1:21am at Heritage Manor South. She worked at Morton Salt for a short period of time before becoming a homemaker. Mrs. Dupre was the Director of the St. Nicholas Life Center for over 20 years, a Eucharistic Minister at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the St. Nicholas Social Concern Commission, an organization that provides food for the less fortunate.

Ms. Clara can best be described as a social butterfly. She never met a stranger, and if she did, they were not strangers for very long. She enjoyed sewing and was an accomplished seamstress. She also enjoyed baking and gardening. Mrs. Dupre was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and especially loved her granddaughters. She was a social and giving woman, and she will be miss by all that knew her.

Mrs. Dupre is survived by her husband of 67 years, Richard W. Dupre; daughter, Peggy D. Luent and husband Charles of Lydia; son, Marshall Dupre and significant other Lisa Berard of Lydia; grandchildren; Nicole L. Sonnier and husband Britt of Lafayette, Sharon L. Seidel and husband Myron of Pensacola, Fl., Maggie L. Hawkins and husband Mike of Lafayette, Meghan Denise and husband Brody of Loreauville, Shae Frioux of Deridder, Raven Dupre of Baton Rouge, and Zac Dupre of Lydia; great grandchildren, Kate and Jonah Sonnier, Charlie, Alex, and Aaron Seidel, Chloe Fielding, Kaylee Denise; sisters, Agnes Hebert of Lydia, Gertrude Thibodeaux of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Caliste and Eva Stansbury Landry; brothers, August Landry, Euzebe Landry, Jim Landry; sisters, Euphemie Derise, Elma Broussard, Virginia Louviere, Mable Breaux, and Mary Guillotte.

Pallbearers will be Marshall Dupre, Britt Sonnier, Mike Hawkins, Zac Dupre, Brody Denise, and Myron Seidel.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Luent, Lisa Berard, and Brock Albert.

The family would like to thank Patsy Barrilleaux, the 2nd floor staff at IMC, and the staff at Heritage Manor South for their care and compassion.
