Jeanerette- A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Alvin Joseph A.J. Landry Jr., age 69, on Friday August 23, 2013 at 11:00am at St. John the Evangelist with Father Jody Simoneaux to officiate. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery with military graveside honors by VFW Post 1982. Visitation will begin on Thursday August 22, 2013 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00pm. Visitation will resume Friday August 23, 2013 at 8:00am and last until service time. A native of Patoutville and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Landry passed away Tuesday August 20, 2013 at 1:47am at a local nursing facility. He was a supervisor for Gulf Craft for 32 years. Mr. Landry was a skilled ship builder and was very dedicated to his work. He was a wise man that freely shared his wisdom with his workers, friends, and family. Mr. Alvin was also a dedicated family man. He always provided for his family, took care of his mother who he adored, enjoyed talking with his brother for hours, and especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed watching sports and in his younger days he enjoyed hunting, fishing, frogging, and going to the horse races. Mr. Landry also proudly served in the United States Army National Guard and was an excellent marksman. Although sometime stubborn, he was a fair and loving man, and he will be greatly missed. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his mother, Eula Guillotte LaPlace of Prairieville; sons, Timothy Tim Landry and wife Catherine of New Iberia, Kirk Landry and wife Sandra of Jeanerette; grandchildren, Heather Nikki Dugas and husband Stephen of New Iberia, Sadie Landry of New Iberia and fianc Drake Patout, Tiffany Landry of New Iberia and fianc Drake Norris, Emilie Landry of Jeanerette and fianc Robert Pooh Sons, Raquel Landry of Jeanerette; great grandchildren, Grace Curtis, Elijah Hardy, Ashtyn Hardy, Baby Drake Norris all of New Iberia, Scot Man Brasseaux Jr., Kelci Landry, Emma Landry, Courtney Sons all of Jeanerette; brother, Terry Landry and wife Donna of Prairieville; and brother-in-law, James Larive of Jeanerette. He leaves this world to join his wife that he adored for 44 years, Harriet Rose Choate Landry; father, Alvin Joseph Landry Sr.; and sister, Joyce Larive. Serving as Pallbearers will be Terry Landry, Lawrence Broussard Jr., Stephen Dugas, Robert Pooh Sons, Chad Hargis, and Brandon Hargis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Horace Choate Jr., Kirk Landry, Tim Landry, Wade Broussard, James Larive, and Samantha Bodin.
