Jeanerette- Funeral Services will be conducted for Allen John Bodin Sr., age 79, on Tuesday September 17, 2013 at 10:00am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Deacon Gerald Bourg to serve as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum with Military Graveside Honors by VFW Post 1982.
Visitation will begin on Monday September 16, 2013 from 4:00pm until 10:00pm with a recitation of the rosary by the Knights of Columbus at 7:00pm. Visitation will continue on Tuesday September 17, 2013 from 8:00am until service time.
A native of Franklin and resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Bodin passed away on Thursday September 12, 2013 at 11:40pm at a local nursing facility. Mr. Bodin was employed with the Louisiana Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineers Aide before retiring after 30 years. He then came out of retirement and worked as an Inspector for Domingue-Szabo and Associates for 17 years. He also worked at the Jeanerette Sugar Mill and was a licensed electrician. Mr. Bodin served his country as a member of the United States Army National Guard for 20 years. He was a man of many hats and a very hard worker.
Mr. Bodin was a Forth Degree Knight of Columbus, and prior Grand Knight and Treasurer with Jeanerette Counsel No.1425. He was a past president of the 50+ Dance Club of Jeanerette and a member of many other community organizations. He enjoyed going dancing and going to the casino with his wife of 58 years, Doneilieen Gee Bodin. He also enjoyed volunteering and helping his friends and neighbors.
Survivors include his wife Doneilieen Gee Bodin of Jeanerette; children, Cindy Bodin of New Iberia, Peggy Bodin and significant other Brent Perry of Lafayette, Jolyn Fleming and husband Richard Jr. of New Iberia, Karen Landry of New Iberia, Allen Al Bodin Jr. and girlfriend Keiko Landry of Lafayette, Danny Bodin of New Iberia; grandchildren, Emily Bodin of Long Island, NY, Joey Fleming and wife Nichole of Baton Rouge, Nick Fleming of Lafayette, Cody Landry, Jacob Landry both of New Iberia; and sister, Betty Halphen and husband Dr. Gerald Jay of New Iberia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hypolite Luke and Genevieve Angers Bodin; grandson, Chris Bodin; and siblings, Nina Puyau and Harold Bodin.
Pallbearers will be Danny Bodin, Richard Fleming, Joey Fleming, Nick Fleming, Cody Landry, and Jacob Landry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Al Bodin Jr. and Ron Bodin.
The family would like to thank Chassity Daniels for her many years of caring for Mr. Bodin.
