New Iberia " Funeral services will be conducted for Russell John Roy, 76, on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2913 at 11:00 AM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Funderburk , Family Pastor at East Bayou Church in Lafayette, officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM and resume on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013 at 9:00 AM until services. A native of Patoutville and a resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Roy passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 at 5:30 AM at his residence. Russell Roy was born on October 10, 1936 and raised on Patoutville Road in Lydia, LA. He served in the U. S. Army National Guard from 1957 to 1959. He was a lineman supervisor and retired from his career with Cleco in 1998. He spent his retirement enjoying his family and piddling in the country. He was a kind and generous man who will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He loved to help people with projects and would lend a hand to others. Survivors include his companion, Anna LaSalle of Jeanerette; his daughter, Ruthie Moats and her husband Sean of Suffolk VA; his sons, Russell Rusty Roy, Jr. of Carencro and Rick A. Roy of Lafayette; his step-daughters, Donna Thomassee and her husband Herman of Youngsville, Sonja Kelly Davis and her husband Marty of Lafayette and Vanessa Alleman and her husband John of Milton, FL; thirteen grandchildren, Brittney Moats, Anthony Moats, Tracy Clements, Stacy Spedale, Brandy Navarre Delcambre, Eric Davis, Brett Davis, Sheree Sostack, Jessica Rulvia, Mykol Alleman, Seth Dautreuil, Devin Dautreuil and Riley Dautreuil; fourteen great grandchildren; sons of Anna LaSalle whom he considered family, Troy Dautreuil and his wife Norma, Tim Dautreuil and his wife Emaline and Davis Dautreuil, III and his wife Joan and his sisters, Constance Boudreaux, Catherine Colletti, Shirley Dionne and Juanita Broussard. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose Mickey Roy and his parents, Forest Roy and Odette LeBlanc Roy. Pallbearers will be Eric Davis, Brett Davis, Troy Dautreuil, Davis Dautreuil, III, Seth Dautreuil, Devin Dautreuil, Rick Roy and Tim Dautreuil. Honorary pallbearers will be Herman Thomassee, Marty Davis and John Alleman. The family request memorials to Heart of Hospice, 201 W. Vermilion St. Lafayette, LA 70501.
