Jeanerette- A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. Michael Pugh, the former Marsha Marie "Marty" Bishop Pugh, age 62, on Tuesday September 17, 2013 at 3:00pm at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Mark Derise to serve as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Memorial Park. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, from 12:00pm until 3:00pm, with a recitation of the rosary by the Mens Rosary Group, at 1:00pm. Scriptures will be read by Liz Buteau and Melissa Fortenbury. Giftbearers will be Daisy Pugh, Sawyer Pugh, Boyd Pugh, Madeline Lipari, and Laura Lipari. A native of Jeanerette and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Pugh passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013, in the evening at her residence. Marsha was a loving daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and a caregiver to all. She was a retired Registered Nurse with Professional Home Health. Her joy in living and faith in humanity will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She gave generously to family and friends of her love and affection, and believed in setting an example of simple refinement and good taste. In her younger years Marsha was an avid athlete, playing basketball for her high school team. Although she was quite a tomboy as a child, she matured into a beauty queen, holding the title Miss Jeanerette and Miss Iberia. Marshas first love was for her family. She was devoted to cooking and gracing people with her delicious home-cooked meals. Marty loved spending time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews " telling stories and making them laugh. Marsha had a great passion for traveling along with her love for the outdoors. She was a member of Iberia Garden Club. She also enjoyed working in her garden and making flower arrangements. Mrs. Pugh is survived by her husband Michael Micky Leon Pugh of 43 years, son Michael Pugh, Jr. and wife Mary Dawn of New Orleans, son Ducky Pugh and wife Alison Robicheaux Pugh of Lafayette, daughter Gretchen and husband Bryan Lipari of New Iberia. Eight grandchildren, Austin, Madeline and Laura Lipari, Daisy, Sawyer and Walker Pugh, and Boyd and Parker Pugh; brothers Rocky and Karen Bishop, Johnny and Lucy Bishop, and Brett and Sherry Bishop, all of Jeanerette. Mother-in-law Juliet LeBourgeois Pugh, brother-in-law Joe Mac Pugh and wife Judy Pugh, sisters-in-laws Connie Switzer and husband Clay Switzer, and Carol Sattler and husband Pete Sattler. She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Donald J. Bishop Sr., mother Gloria Gonsoulin Bishop, and sister Donna Marie Bishop. Pallbearers will be David and Michael Pugh, Brett Bishop, Austin Lipari, Peter Sattler, and Porter Horgan. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryan Lipari, Johnny Bishop, Rocky Bishop, Garland Reed, Clay Switzer, Jim Harris, and Dr. Clyde Landrum.
