New Iberia-Memorial services will be conducted for Florence Rita Sedotal, age 81 on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Msgr. Jace Eskind officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 5, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. until services. A native of Lydia and a resident of New Iberia, Florence passed away on Monday, September 30, at 1:15 p.m. at her home in New Iberia. Florence lived in New Iberia most of her life. But during her ten-year marriage to her second husband James W. (Bill) Brown she lived in many places throughout the U.S., including Alaska, Rhode Island, North Carolina, Florida and Washington. While in Alaska she worked on a crab boat that processed Alaskan King Crab. For the last thirty years she was a gifted caregiver and gave end of life care to many as they completed their journey on earth. She is survived by her daughters, Penny Emmer Jeske and her husband Ronald of New Iberia and Tanya Emmer Miles and her husband Ray of Lake Charles; sisters Lillian Strother of New Iberia, Doris Chenevert of Laplace, and Lois Randolph of Lafayette; one brother Wilfred Sedotal of New Iberia; grandchildren, Lacie Davidson of Lacombe, John W. Emmer, IV of Kenner, Elizabeth Corgan of Grapevine, Texas, Luke Miles of Lake Charles, and Lexi Emmer of New Iberia. She has three great-grandchildren and two step-daughters, JoAnn Shelton and Nancy Davis of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her son, John W. Emmer III, first husband John W. Emmer, Jr.; her parents Louise and TeBurce Sedotal; sisters Emeritte Bourg, Corrine Bourg, Leona Duhon, Bernice York, Mae Sedotal, Eunice Genest; and brother Leonie Sedotal.
