Jeanerette " A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mr. Leroy Joseph Eskind, on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Jeanerette, La with Fr. Jody Simoneaux officiating. Entombment will follow in St. John the Evangelist Mausoleum, with Military Graveside by VFW Post #1982.

Visitation will be on Wednesday September 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and resume on Thursday, September 26, 2013 8:00 until time of services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at 6:30 PM.

Mr. Leroy Joseph Eskind passed away on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 2:25 AM at his residence.

Mr. Eskind is a native and a lifelong resident of New Iberia. He was a member of the American Legion Post #0026 in Jeanerette, and he was a member of the VFW.

He is survived by his wife Betty Eskind the former Betty Miques of 56 years; one son Chris Eskind, Sr. and his wife Lydia of League City, Tx; two daughters Michelle Eskind Neef and her husband Thomas of Scott, La; Patricia Hazell and her companion Larry Lege of New Iberia; two brothers Michael and Alfred Eskind of Houma, La; four sisters Betty Cox and her husband Bill; Ruby Cantrell and her husband Roland; Daisy Mae Eskind all of Houma, La and Bernice Bonin and her husband Boddy, Sr. of Jenerette, La.; nine grandchildren Chris Eskind, Jr. of League City, Tx; Katlyn Eskind of Houston, Tx; Thomas Ty Neef; Jaren Neef; Megan Neef; Jake Neef of Scott, La; Nathan Hazell and his wife Lisa of Baltimore, Md; and Nicole Hazell of Jeanerette, La; Brad Hazell and wife Mary;and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Hazel Bonin Eskind; step-mother Rita Comeaux Eskind; four brothers Roy Eskind (twin brother); Arthur Eskind; Charles Ray Eskind; Roland Eskind and two sisters Mary Leonard and Irene Belanger.

Pallbearers will be: Thomas Neef, Jaren Neef, Jake Neef, Nathan Hazell, Brad Hazell, Chris Eskind, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Adam Hazell, Gabriel Hazell.
