New Iberia- Funeral services for Mrs. Theodore Brower, the former Edna Ackal, age 83, will be held on Monday October 28, 2013 at 2:00pm at David Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon Jay Bergeron to serve as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Sacred scripture will be read by Lawrence Barras, Haley Ackal, and Ashley Latiolais.
Visitation will be held on Monday October 28, 2013 beginning at 11:00am until service time with a recitation of the rosary at 1:00pm.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Brower passed away on Friday October 25, 2013 at 8:50pm at a New Iberia Hospital. She was a member of the Fort Nightly Club, the New Iberia Kiwanis Club, Bayou Teche Museum Club, the Red Cross, the Iberia Cancer Society, the KKI Club, the Iberia Cultural Club, and a longtime member of the ASPCA. Mrs. Brower was also Superintendant of Education for Turkey, Spain, and Islands District.
Mrs. Brower is survived by her sisters-in-law, Dalel Helo Ackal of New Iberia and Carol Hustis; nephews, Camille P. Ackal of New Iberia, Elias J. Ackal and wife Joanne of Baton Rouge, Kalil A. Ackal and wife Stacey of Katy, Tx., John K. Ackal and wife Kelley of Youngsville; niece, Rosemary A. Peters and husband Timothy of New Iberia, great nephews, Karsen K. Ackal of Youngsville, Beau E. Ackal of Baton Rouge, Scott P. Peters of New Iberia; great nieces, Ashley A. Latiolais and husband Thomas of Lafayette, Katelyn A. Myers and husband Shane of New Iberia, Krista J. Ackal of Youngsville, Haley Ackal of Katy, Tx., Alexis C. Peters of New Iberia, great great nephew, Kurt Thomas Latiolais of Lafayette; great great nieces, M li E. Latiolais of Lafayette, Kadence B. Verret of New Iberia, Dalel M. Latiolais of Lafayette; and dear friend, Naziyre Gunel from Turkey.
She was preceded in death by her husband Theodore Brower; parents, Elias J. Ackal Sr. and Mary Abrusley Ackal; aunt, Mrs. Toffie Ackal; brothers, Camille Ackal, Representative Elias Bo Ackal Jr.; sister, Jeanette C. Ackal; nephew, Paul G. Ackal; great nephew, Coty K. Ackal; and great great nephew, Kaleb K. Ackal.
Pallbearers will be Elias Ackal III, Kalil Ackal, John Ackal, Karsen Ackal, Scott Peters, and Beau Ackal.
Honorary pallbearers will be Alfred Ackal, Anthony Ackal, Johnny Betar, Russ Babin, Joseph Dow, Tim Peters, Stuart Smith, and Ernest Freyou.
The family would like to thank Dr. Vina Baker, the staff of Dauterive Hospital, and Heart of Hospice for their care and compassion.
