Leroy Romero

September 24, 1931 — April 4, 2014

New Iberia - Funeral services will be conducted for Leroy Paul "Peco" Romero, 82, on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 11:00 AM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ken Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 8:00 AM until services.A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday at 7:00 PM. A native of Iberia Parish and a resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero died on Friday, April 4, 2014, at 8:37 PM in a New Iberia nursing facility. He retired as a bridge tender and crane operator with the Louisiana Department of Transportation after 30 years of employment. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, camping, playing bingo and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Chris Romero and his wife Lori; his daughter, Angela Romero Miller and her husband Shannon; his sister, Jeanette Romero Proctor all of New Iberia; his grandchildren, Cody Romero and his wife Mandi, Samantha Ann Miller and Austin Christopher Miller; his great grandchildren, Jacob and Jason Romero and his godchildren, Paul Proctor and Roy Lee David Proctor. He was preceded in death by his father, Simon Romero; his mother, Regina Guilbeau Romero; his 1st wife, Delores Prince Romero Speer; his 2nd wife, Norma Wood Romero; his godchild, William Michael Proctor and his brother-in-law, Joe Lynn Proctor. Pallbearers will be Shannon Miller, Chris Romero, Cody Romero, Paul Proctor, Eric Romero and Mike Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Proctor and Austin Miller.
