Fred J. Romero

March 5, 1927 — April 8, 2014

Coteau - Funeral services will be conducted for Fred Joseph Romero, age 87, Friday April 11, 2014, at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with Fr. Barry Crochet officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday April 10, 2014, from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM and resume on Friday, April 11, 2014, at 8:00 AM until service. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral on Thursday at 7:00 PM. A native and resident of Coteau, Fred passed away at his residence Tuesday April 8, 2014, at 7:45 PM surrounded by his family. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1511, Mr. Romero was a member of the Iberia Police Juror/Parish Councilman for 16 years. He served his country during WWII in the US Army. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Margery Richard Romero of Coteau; his daughters, Judy Romero LeBlanc and her husband Lane of Coteau; Karen Romero Stutts and her husband Eddie of Shreveport; Jackie Romero Boutte of Coteau; Amy Romero of Coteau; 6 Grandchildren; 7 Great Grandchildren; and 2 more Great Grandchildren on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexis Romero and Lucille Romero Romero; brothers, Walter Romero, Rodney Romero; sister, Vernice Romero Farmer. Serving as pallbearers will be Shane LeBlanc, Jeromy Boutte, Buddy Bayard, Mike Landry, Lane LeBlanc, Eddie Stutts.
