Sylvia "Aunt Nee" Delcambre Sonnier

Jeanerette - Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Alexis Sonnier, the former Sylvia "Aunt Nee" Delcambre, 97, on Saturday, May 3, 2014. At 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Readings for the mass will be proclaimed by Dacia Broussard. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, May 2, 2014, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Friday at 6:00 PM. A native of Youngsville and resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Sonnier died on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 7:54 AM in a Jeanerette nursing facility. She worked at Barlynn's in Jeanerette for 10 years and at the Jeanerette Mills Cafeteria. She loved dancing, the casino and cooking for her family every Sunday. She is survived by her sons, James Marc Sonnier and his wife Jeanie of Centerville, Ronnie Paul Sonnier and his wife Hope of Lafayette and David A. Sonnier, Sr. and his wife Josette of Jeanerette; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexis Sonnier; her parents, Alphia and Marie Daily Delcambre; her son, Thomas Ray Sonnier; her brothers, Joseph, Lucius, Ovey, Henry, Mick, T-Paul and Essay Delcambre and her sisters, Edna Higginbotham, Maude Robicheaux, Angelia Stelly and Beulah Mire. Serving as pallbearers will be family members.
