New Iberia- Memorial services for Mr. James Thomas Grissett Jr, age 55, will be held on Monday May 5, 2014 at 2:00pm at Westside Baptist Church, 1717 Jefferson Island Rd. New Iberia, La. with Brother Tracy King officiating. Family and friends will be received from 1:00pm until time of service. A native of Geneva, Al. and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Grissett passed away on Wednesday April 30, 2014 at 11:47pm at a Lafayette hospital. James was an active member of Westside Baptist Church. He was always helping others, especially the older members of Westside Baptist Church with giving car rides and other tasks to make their lives easier. He loved action movies, particularly Karate movies and loved animals. James was always helpful and had a big heart. Survivors include his mother and step-father, Jimmie and Paul Ramos; half-brother, Jimmy Paul Ramos; aunts, Edra Mae McKnight and husband Fred of Orlando, FL, Rose Birmingham of Garland, TX, Margaret Edgeston of City Rapids, Iowa; uncles, Jake Jacobs of Bonifay, FL, Tony Ramos of Brownsville, TX; niece, Nancy Peele and husband Greg of Orlando, FL; nephews, Freddie McKnight and wife Tammie of Orlando, FL, Scott Jacobs of Atlanta, GA; cousins, James Sullivan of Breaux Bridge, Brad Sullivan of Galveston, TX, Terry Sullivan of San Antonio, TX, and Marla Reyes of Coppell, TX. He was preceded in death by his father, James Thomas Grissett Sr., grandparents, Earl and Nancy Evans; and aunt, Alice Jacobs. The family would like to thank James Sullivan, Reverend Tracy King and wife Linda, and the members of Westside Baptist Church for all their love, care, support, and prayers.
