Lafayette - The life of Alfred J. "Bud" Lanie Sr., 83, will be celebrated on Thursday May 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville. Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM, and will resume Thursday May 8, 2014 at 8:00 AM until time of services. Burial will follow at St. Anne Catholic Cemetery. A native of Blackwell, Oklahoma and a resident of Youngsville, Mr. Lanie passed away Monday May 5, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. To say that Bud lived life to its fullest is an understatement. He was a retired farmer and General Manager of Youngs Industries. He served in the Army National Guard, was a successful farmer for over 60 years, member of the St. Anne Knights of Columbus, member of the Louisiana Soybean Board, Outstanding Young Farmer, and Member of the United Soybean Board Association. Bud's passions included spending time with family, visiting with friends, restoring tractors, making sure everyone did things right and seeing "what else is going on". He is survived by his loving wife Lee Anna Stansbury Lanie of Youngsville; five proud children - Virginia Lanie Rabalais, and her husband James of Youngsville, Renee' Lanie Sherville of Youngsville, Alfred "Al" J. Lanie Jr. and his wife Darla of Youngsville, Lisa Lanie Daigle and her husband Michael of Baton Rouge, and Andrew "Andy" Lanie and his wife Denise of Youngsville; two sisters, Sister Rita Lanie O.S.F. of Baton Rouge and Teresa L. Hebert of Scott; fifteen grandchildren, Captain Charles "Buddy" Bonvillain Jr. and his wife Colleen, Dr. Joseph Bonvillain, Jacob Bonvillain, Ramsey Sherville Peltier and her husband Chet, Nicholas Sherville and his wife Jenny, Benjamin Sherville and his wife Rachel, Anna, Elizabeth, and Caroline Daigle, Drew, Emily and John Lanie, Foster, Colin, and Andre' Lanie; and seven great grandchildren - Abigail and Gracie Peltier, Evie and Owen Sherville, Austin Sherville, and Max and Luke Bonvillain. Mr. Lanie was preceded in death by his parents Wilfred Cyril Lanie and Marie Louise Abadie Lanie; three brothers Virgil, Charles, and Wilfred Lanie Jr.; and one sister, Erma Lanie Cook. Pall Bearers will be Mr. Lanie's ten grandsons. Honorary pall bearers will be Michael Daigle, Chet Peltier, James Rabalais, Gene Coussan, Ben Langlinais and Butch Bazer.
