Coteau - Funeral services will be conducted for Larry Dean Melancon, 58, on Friday, May 9, 2014, at 11:00 AM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Denton officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 8, 2014, from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM and resume on Friday, May 9, 2014, at 9:00 AM until services. A native of Abbeville and a resident of Coteau, Mr. Melancon died on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 6:27 PM at his residence. He was a member of AA and a Past President and Coach with the Iberia Youth Baseball Association. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Laura Stice Melancon of Coteau; his sons, Joshua Melancon and his wife Nikki of Conway, AR and Jason Hollis and his wife Lauren of Houston, TX; his daughters, Christy Latiola and her husband Shane, Amy Marceaux and her husband Quint all of New Iberia and Heather Hernandez of Houston, TX; his brothers, Rudy Melancon and his wife Mary, Junius Melancon, Jr. and his wife Janice and Randy Melancon and his wife Angela all of Coteau and his grandchildren, Logan Comeaux, Tanner Marceaux, Madison Latiola, Morgan Mouton, Kodie Melancon, Kylie Melancon, Jacob Hollis, Jackson Melancon and Olivia Hollis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Junius Melancon, Sr. and Una Maturin Melancon. Pallbearers will be Joshua Melancon, Jason Hollis, Troy Melancon, Chris Melancon, Blake Segura, D. J. Frederick, Justin Melancon and Chase Melancon. Honorary pallbearers will be Logan Comeaux, Tanner Marceaux, Jacob Hollis and Jackson Melancon.
