Dudley Joseph Stelly

April 9, 1931 — May 13, 2014

Abbeville-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 16, 2014 at 1:00PM for Dudley Joseph Stelly, 83, in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with Father Michael Delcambre officiating. Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 15, 2014 from 2:00PM until 9:00PM. Visitation will resume on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 9:00AM until time of service. Burial will follow in the St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery. Mr. Stelly was involved in the rice industry for his entire career. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his sons; Greg Stelly of Orange, Texas, Matthew Stelly and his wife Margaret of Jennings, La., Stephen Stelly and his wife, Janet of Crowley, and Patrick Stelly of Baton Rouge; one sister, Una Bares and her husband, Sidney of Abbeville; seven Grandchildren, Leslie Benoit, Loren Stelly, Matthew Stelly, Sarah Dilmore, Jude Stelly, Simone Stelly, and Alek Stelly; four great grandchildren; Dylan Benoit, Darren Benoit Olivia Benoit, and Porter Stelly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Amar and Lelia LeMaire Stelly, his wife, Anna Belle Scalisi Stelly, one son, Jude Stelly, and two brothers, Otis Stelly and Royce Stelly. Pallbearers will be Loran Stelly, Matthew Stelly, Alek Stelly, Jude Stelly, Jason Benoit, and Josh Dilmore. The family ask in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to St. Jude Children Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
