Marilyn Borel Dykes

Jeanerette - Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Eugene H. Dykes, Sr., the former Marilyn Borel, 92, on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 24, 2014, from 8:00 AM until services. A native and a resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Dykes died on Monday, May 19, 2014, at 6:41 AM in a New Iberia hospital. She was a retired clerk with the City of Jeanerette after 15 years of employment. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Jeanerette and a regular Adoree at the Perpetual Adoration Chapel at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Switzer of Jeanerette; her sons, Eugene Dykes, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of New Iberia and Gary Dykes and his wife Dawn Dykes of Broussard; her sisters, Raye Boutte and Marian Bouligny both of New Iberia; her grandchildren, Shawn Switzer and his wife Mary, Matthew Switzer and his wife Angelle, Wes Switzer and his wife Chrissy all of Jeanerette, Harley Dykes of New Iberia and Alex Fletcher of Broussard and her great grandchildren, Laudun Landry of Scott, Madison Switzer, Taylor Switzer, Seth Switzer, Olivia Switzer, Gavin Switzer all of Jeanerette and Beaux Preston Fletcher of Broussard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene H. Dykes, Sr.; her parents, George and Martha Merceron Borel and her brothers, Raoul Borel and Holland Borel. Pallbearers will be Shawn Switzer, Matthew Switzer, Wes Switzer, Gary Dykes, Laudun Landry, Seth Switzer and Clay Switzer.
