New Iberia - Funeral services will be conducted for Michael Belaire, Sr., 75, on Monday, June 2, 2014, at 10:00 AM at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Father Ed Degeyter officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville with Military Graveside Honors. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 1, 2014, from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Monday, June 2, 2014, at 8:00 AM until services. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Sunday at 6:00 PM. A native of Breaux Bridge and a resident of New Iberia, Mr.Belaire died on Thursday, May 29, 2014, at 2:35 PM at his residence. He was a barber for fourteen years, was a Postman for the U. S. Postal Service for 25 years and retired as a Staff Sergeant with the Louisiana National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Norvelle Greig Belaire of New Iberia; his son, Jeffery Belaire and his wife Jodie of St. Martinville; his daughter, Norrie B. Kenner and her husband Allen of Lafayette; his brothers, LeRoy Belaire of Breaux Bridge and Wallace Belaire of Gray; his sisters, Ann Hart of Las Vegas, NV, Agatha Reith of Westwego and Mary Ann Crochet of Lafayette; his grandchildren, Meko Belaire, Max Belaire, Allie Kenner and Morgan Rose Kenner and his great grandson, Maddox Belaire. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Belaire, Sr. and Celeste Landry Belaire; his son, Michael Belaire, Jr.; his brothers, Ward Belaire, Wilfred Belaire, Andrew Belaire, Jr., Jules Belaire, John Belaire, Amede Belaire and R. J. Belaire and his sister, Cecile Belaire Eddy. Pallbearers will be Jeffery Belaire, Max Belaire, Meko Belaire, Allen Kenner, Tommy Greig and Hadley Babin. Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Thibodeaux, Billy Greig, LeRoy Belaire and Wallace Belaire. The family request memorials for mass intentions for Michael's Eternal Peace.
