Lydia- Funeral services for Mr. Thomas "Bee" Broussard, age 74, will be held on Friday July 4, 2014 at 10:00am at David Funeral Home with Father Gregory Chauvin to serve as the Celebrant. Visitation will begin Friday morning at 8:00am with a recitation of the rosary at 9:30am. Interment will be at a later date. A native of Weeks Island and resident of Lydia, "Bee" as he was affectionately known passed away on Wednesday July 2, 2014 at 4:30pm at his residence. Mr. Broussard was a barge tender for 25 years with the Morton Salt Company. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing, tending to his vegetable garden, woodworking, and watching tv. "Bee" had a soft spot for dogs and children. Although he was never married, he was a family man through and through. His family will miss visiting with him on the back porch with a beautiful watermelon from his garden. He adored his family and enjoyed the time spent with his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mr. Broussard was a devout catholic with unwavering faith and he will be missed by all. Survivors include his siblings, Betty B. Derouen and husband Irving of New Iberia, Robert Broussard Jr. and wife Lorraine of Lydia; nieces, Carleen Smith and husband James of New Iberia, Toni Lala and husband Warren of Abbeville, Shelia Herpin and husband Ralph of Scott, Roxanna Gates of Lydia, Nancy Picou and husband Ray of Lydia, Lela Frederick and husband James of New Iberia, and Rose Casey and husband Carey of Fort Worth; Nephew, Thad Broussard and wife Ruth of Erath; and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Houston and May Dartez Broussard; siblings, Rita Joyce Broussard, Wilbert J. Broussard, Charles J. Broussard; and one nephew, Dax Broussard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Thad Broussard, James Smith, Warren Lala, Ralph Herpin, Ray Picou, James Frederick, and Carey Casey. The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana, Toni Lala, and Roxanna Gates for the love, care, and compassion shown to Mr. Broussard.
