New Iberia- Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Robert G. Jud, the former Gertrude Ida Sidler, age 104, on Monday July 7, 2014 at 11:00am at David Funeral Home with Father Ed Degeyter to serve as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will begin on Monday morning, July 7, 2014 at10:00am with a recitation of the rosary at 10:30am. A native of Thalwil, Switzerland and longtime resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Jud moved to Louisiana with her husband, Robert, from New Jersey in 1950. Several years later they opened Jud's Pastry Shop on Main St. and ran the business together until her husband retired. Mr. Jud, not one to let retirement slow him down, opened second cake shop behind his home on Hacker St. were Mrs. Jud served as his assistant until his passing. At the age of 97 Mrs. Jud was a resident of Garden View Assisted Living in New Iberia until she was 102 years old. She finished out the remainder of her life at The Haven at Windermere Assisted Living in Baton Rouge. Mrs. Jud was a proud member of the Pink Ladies Hospital Volunteer Service and an active member with St. Peter's Catholic Church and participated in many prayer groups through the years. She passed away on Friday July 4, 2014 at 5:02am at the age of 104. She is survived by her children, Robert A. Jud and wife Lee Buckley of New York, Terry J. Moore of Baton Rouge, and Trudy J. Winne and husband Fred of Portland, Maine; seven grandchildren, 7great grandchildren, and one special nephew, Paul Jud of Switzerland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Jud; parents, Eugene and Ida Gloor Sidler; and one son-in-law, Adrian Moore Sr. Honored to serve as pallbearers will be members of the family. The family would like to thank Mrs. Jud's very special sitters Shikita Smith and Laura Barton for their loving care and compassion.
