Abbeville - Memorial Services for Mr. Wyley Richard White, 95, will be held at David Funeral Home Chapel of Abbeville, Louisiana at 2:00PM on Saturday, July 19, 2014, with a gathering of family and friends from 1:00PM until the time of service. Mr. White a native of Oklahoma was born on June 12, 1919 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a resident of Downey, California and lived in San Antonio, Texas before moving to Louisiana. He served our country as a proud member of the Army for World War II and the Korean conflict. He proudly served and retired from the military as a Major with over 25 years service. His proudest moments fondly spoke of were his athletics and his communication and broadcasting experiences. He worked as a news broadcaster. He was a proud alumni and graduate of Oklahoma University, where he met the love of his life, Dorthea Koerner, who became his wife. They both loved to play golf and follow the tournaments. They both had a love and appreciation for Native American Culture and supporting reservations and their customs. Both enjoyed travel and family. He loved reading classic literature and had an appreciation for wood working. Mr. White passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at his residence surrounded by family. He is survived by two sons, Richard White and spouse Edna of Abbeville, and Jon White and spouse Collen of Sutton, Alaska; two surviving granddaughters, Jody White DeRouen and spouse Gary of New Iberia and Melissa White of Delcambre; seven great-grandchildren, Stephan White, Sierra, Dillon and Jolie` DeRouen, Payton, Averi, and Eli LeBlanc. He is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, and love of his life, Dorthea Koerner White; his parents, Minnaletha Jones White and Ancel White; and granddaughter Jeannine White and great-grandson Devon LeBlanc.
