New Iberia - Funeral services will be conducted for Jules Anthony "Tony" Schwing, 72, also known to his grandchildren as "Papere" on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at 1:45 PM at St. Peters Catholic Church with Father William Blanda officiating. Entombment will follow at Beau Pre Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be at St. Peters Catholic Church on Thursday, August 21, 2014, from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM. A native and resident of New Iberia, Tony died on Sunday, August 17, 2014, at 8:27 PM in a Houston, TX hospital. Along with his sons, Armond and Chet, Tony was the owner of Schwing Insurance Agency. Tony and his family restored the Schwing Insurance Office Building, which was originally built as a Federal Post Office Building and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. He was a member and Past President of the New Iberia Rotary Club, a former King of the Krewe of Iberians, a Lifetime Sponsor of Ducks Unlimited and Coastal Conservation Association. He was also the founder of La Cachette Supper Club. Tony was a proud supporter of Catholic High School in New Iberia and Tulane Athletics. He served 12 years on the Iberia Medical Center Hospital Board and served in the Louisiana National Guard. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara Goodwin Schwing of New Iberia; his children, Armond Kemp Schwing and his wife Jennifer, Tiffany Schwing Breaux and her husband Kreig, Samuel Brett Cooper, Jules Blanchet "Chet" Schwing and his wife Julia and Juliet Schwing Davis and her husband Rusty all of New Iberia; his siblings, Susan Schwing of Lafayette, Edmond "Beaver" Schwing, Marie "Cissy" Schwing both of New Iberia, Johnny Schwing of Lafayette and Charles Edward "Knobby" Schwing of New Iberia and his grandchildren, Alex Breaux, Sydney Schwing, Sam Breaux, St. George Schwing, Rivers Schwing, Cameron Schwing, Russell Davis, III, Rosemary Davis, Remy Schwing and Jules Anthony Schwing Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jules Blanchet Schwing and Marie Louise Landry Schwing. Pallbearers will be Armond Schwing, Chet Schwing, Kreig Breaux, Rusty Davis, Alex Breaux, Sam Breaux and St. George Schwing. The family request memorials to the Solomon House.
