Broussard - A Mass of Christian service will be held for Mr. Gilbert Lamperez, 80, will be Held at 11:00AM, Monday, August 25, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard with Father Bill Ruskoski officiating . Visitation will begin at 10:30AM on Sunday August 24, 2014 at David Funeral Home of Lafayette and will continue throught the night until service time on Monday, August 25, 2014. . Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Mausoleum. A native of New Iberia and long time resident of Broussard. He was a active member of Sacred heart Catholic Church as a CCD teacher, Eucharistic Minister, RCIA, Bible Study Group, Knights of Columbus ( 4th Degree) Men's Guild, and DCDS of Carmelites. His hobbies were woodworking; he built doll houses for his granddaughters, and donated one to the church. He was an electrician and refrigeration Tech by trade. He also loved to sing even though he could not carry a tune, but loved the choir and supported his wife singing in the choir. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army. He is survived by his wife, Lilly Lamperez from Broussard; two daughters, Roxanne McCain and her husband Kenny, and Nadine Bonin and her husband Guy; one son Chadwick "Chad" J. Lamperez and his wife Justine; and one sister, Evelyn Decambre. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nina Faye Lamperez; his parent Lovencie and Loria Meyers Lamperez; seven brothers, Lovelace Blanchard, Murphy Blanchard, Paul Blanchard, Hubert Blanchard, Doris Lamperez, Oday Suire, and Francis Suire.
