A native and lifelong resident of Erath Mr. Suire died at 6:05AM on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at his residence. He served in the US Army for 2 years and was stationed in Georgia and Germany. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, he moved back to Erath and went to work at Petroleum Helicopters for 38 years. Because hard work and providing for his family were very important to him, he always had a second job. During his younger years, he did aluminum welding out of his home during the evenings and on weekends. In 1980, he became a Justice of the Peace in Vermilion Parish. He served this position for over 34 years, during which time he performed over 1,300 weddings. In addition to this, he found time to tinker with and trade antique slot machines and guns. He volunteered for many years with the Erath Volunteer Fire Department and the American Legion Derouen Moss Post 279. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Erath. He loved all things Louisiana and all things Cajun. His passion for his Cajun culture, heritage, food, and music led him to meet French speaking people from all over the world. During the last 15 years, he had a special kinship with the large Dore, family from Quebec, who could often be found camping in his yard. He also loved to reminisce about Louisiana politics, listen to Cajun music, and never passed up a good game of bouree`. Family was very important in his life. Time with his cousins was treasured and family vacations were always planned around visits with those that lived out of state. He loved his children and grandchildren. In addition to raising his four children, he also raised his oldest grandson upon his son's passing. He expressed his love by feeding them and giving them special gifts. They never left his home empty handed or with an empty stomach. As a last expression of love for his children, he has chosen to be entombed with his son, Keith. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Faulk Suire of Erath; two sons, Kent Joel Suire and his wife Dr. Cynthia Chauvin Suire of Erath and Jody Manual Suire and his wife Robin Chatagnier Suire of Lake Charles; a daughter, Ann Marie Bernard and her husband Robert Bernard of Lafayette; five grandchildren, James Suire, Laina Suire Raggette, Kyle Suire, Lucas Suire, and Leslie Suire; three step grandchildren, Ben Bernard, Matthew Bernard, and Jeffrey Bernard; five great grandchildren, Victoria Raggette, Cameron D'heilly, William Bernard, Henry Bernard, and Madelyn Bernard; two sisters, Jeanette Delcambre and her husband Irving Delcambre and Melissa Hebert and her husband Maurice Hebert; a brother, Richard Paul Suire and his wife Beverly Suire.
