Jeanerette - Funeral services will be conducted for Bernadette Babin Derouen, 52, on Saturday, September 6, 2014, at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 6, 2014, from 8:00 AM until the service time. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Saturday at 9:00 AM. A native of New Iberia and a resident of Crapeau Town, Mrs. Derouen passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 7:28 PM. She loved the outdoors, fishing, cooking for her family and helping others. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Copp Babin of Crapeau Town; her sons, Anthony Mata and his wife Wendy of Katy, TX, Ross Mata and his wife Madoka of San Diego, CA and Corey Mata and his wife Tiffney of Baldwin; her brothers, Terry Babin, Rickey Babin both of Crapeau Town and Joseph Babin of Grand Marais; her sister, Trudy Babin Collins of Jeanerette and her grandchildren, Harrison, Kinsley and Ebisu Mata. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alcee J. Derouen; her father, Harrison Babin; her daughter, Ashley Mata; her brother, Euclide Babin and her sister, Brenda Segura. Pallbearers will be Anthony Mata, Ross Mata, Corey Mata, Justin Babin, Joseph Babin and Ron Derouen.
