Jeanerette- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Ms. Josie A. Proctor, age 100, on Wednesday September 17, 2014 at 1:00pm at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Charles Langlois to serve as the Celebrant. Reading from sacred scripture will be Dr. Laura Boudreaux and Stephanie Martin. Gift bearers will be Sue Allain, Ray Cranche Sr. and Sandra Lopez. Eucharistic Ministers will be Elizabeth Boudreaux and Earl J. Webber. Entombment will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Wednesday September 17, 2014 at 9:00am and conclude at 12:45pm with a recitation of the rosary by the Mystic Rose Catholic Daughters at 11:00am. A native and longtime past resident of Jeanerette, and resident of New Iberia, Ms. Proctor passed away peacefully on September 13, 2014 at 1:50pm as her residence at Azalea Estates. Ms. Proctor was born on October 5, 1913 to George and Florence Mason Proctor at the Albania Mansion in Jeanerette. Being fascinated by numbers, Ms. Proctor earned her Bachelor's degree in Accounting as a member of the class of 1934 at S.L.I., now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Her degree led her to Franklin as the Head Accountant at Blevins Ford Motor Company for 54 years. Over the course of her career she won many awards for excellence in bookkeeping. As a devout and faithful Catholic, Ms. Proctor was a member of the Mystic Rose Catholic Daughters Jeanerette Chapter and a member of the Legion of Mary of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Being a descendent of Lieutenant John Sereven, a Georgia Ranger during the American Revolution, She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. As a true patriot, she loved the American Flag and served as the Chairman of the Flag of the United States of America Committee. Ms. Proctor will be forever remembered as a sweet, proper, lovely Southern Belle, and an Avid LSU fan. She is survived by her cousins, Ray L Cranche Sr. and wife April of Jeanerette, Sandra Cranche Lopez and husband Perry of Jennings, Elizabeth W. Boudreaux and husband Dr. Stephen of New Iberia, Sue Pole Allain of Baton Rouge, Virginia Allain of Baton Rouge; numerous great cousins and great great cousins, and her two loving caregivers Rita Broussard and Sheila Legnon. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Elina Germaine Proctor and Sadie Marion Proctor. Pallbearers will be Ray Cranche Sr., Ray Cranche Jr., André Cranche, Earl J. Weber, Todd A. Martin, Dr. Stephen A. Boudreaux, David Allain, and Randy Allain. Honorary pallbearers will be Lyle Simoneaux, Ronny Rodriguez, and Tad Blevins. The family would like to thank Azalea Estates for the care and compassion given and for the wonderful lemonade Ms. Proctor enjoyed so much.
