David Paul Ortego

LAFAYETTE-Funeral services will be held for David Paul Ortego, age 46, at an 11:00AM Mass of Christian burial on Monday, October 27, 2014 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville. Rev. Jason Mouton will be officiating at the services. Interment will follow in St. Anne Mausoleum . Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 from 7:30AM until service time at David Funeral Home in Lafayette. A Rosary will be prayed at 9:30AM Monday, October 27, 2014 in the funeral home. David Paul Ortego was born September 20, 1968 in Abbeville, LA. He served his country during Desert Storm as a Sgt. in the U.S. Army. Mr. Ortego enjoyed hunting, fishing, frogging, and was a huge Saints fan. Mr. Ortego was a great cook and was the boss of the kitchen. Although he was a quadriplegic due to a tragic car accident in 2007; he had a great mind, an uplifting spirit, and a great love for his family. He is survived by his parents; Steven Ortego and the former Christine "Tina" Morton of Youngsville; wife of twenty-one years; the former Dawn Hulin; one son; Dylan Ortego; one dauthter; Demi Ortego all of Youngsville; one sister; Emily Ortego of Youngsville; two sisters-in-law; Kristi Way (Brian), and Brittany Hulin; mother-in-law; Vicky Hulin (Edward); grandmother; Viola Ortego; two nephews; Blaze Brignac, and Gage Landry; one niece; Grace Way and his faithful Chihuahua, Mia. He is preceded in death by his grandparents; Stanley and Wanda Morton; and Ray C. Ortego. Serving as his Pallbearers will be Joe Morton, Scott Deshotel, Wendell Leblanc, Trinity Daigle, Jed Gary, and Gerald Melancon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dylan Ortego, Russell Prudhomme, Willie Daigle, and Dennis Pitre. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregiver, Ms. Regina Kees.
