Sonia Marie Pitre Gaspard

November 12, 1949 — October 28, 2014

New Iberia- Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Sonia Marie Pitre Gaspard, age 64, on Sunday November 2, 2014 at 1:30pm at David Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ed Downs to serve as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Saturday November 1, 2014 at 12:00pm and conclude at 10:00pm with a recitation of rosary at 6:00pm. Visitation will resume Sunday morning at 8:00am until service time. A native of Marrero, La. and a longtime resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Gaspard passed away on Tuesday October 28, 2014 at 4:20pm at a local hospital. Mrs. Gaspard enjoyed dancing, Zydeco music, playing bingo and pokeno, and riding her bike. She was seen riding her bike all over New Iberia for many years. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed going with her family on beach vacations and swimming in the ocean. She will be missed, and forever remembered as being a wonderful mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Aucoin and husband Allen Sr. of New Iberia; grandchildren, Brandon Joachim Aucoin of Lafayette, and Courteney Cherise Aucoin of New Iberia; great granddaughter, Arianna Marie Aucoin of Duson; Hannah Aucoin Romero, who she considered a granddaughter; Godchild, Brittney Delahoussaye; and a host of loving cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joachim and Estelle Prince Pitre; and one grandson, Allen Joseph Aucoin Jr. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Brandon Aucoin, J.R. Aucoin, Phillip Aucoin, Danny Bourque, Jr., Chad Schleuter, and Chad Stansbury. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. George Cousin and Dauterive Hospital for the excellent care and compassion given to Mrs. Gaspard.
