Abbeville - Funeral Services for Mr. William Reed, 92, will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at David Funeral Home Chapel of Abbeville with Francis Plaisance officiating. Interment will follow at Greene Cemetery. Visitation will be held at David funeral Home of Abbeville on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 8:30AM until the time of the services. A native of Acadia Parish and a lifelong resident of Abbeville, Mr. Reed died at 2:40AM on Monday, November 10, 2014 at Maison de Lafayette Nursing Home. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and received a Purple Heart. He worked as a boat captain for Triangle Shifting and Fleeting; was one of the founding members of Abbeville Church of Christ; was a jack of all trades; and enjoyed camping. He is survived by three daughters, Eva Lane Callahan and her husband Jeb of Cow Island Lorraine Romero and her husband Delfred of Henry, and Dena Henderson and her husband Robert of Lafayette,; seven grandchildren, Reid Romero, Chad Romero, Sean Romero, Sheb Callahan, Craig Callahan, Alachia Desormeaux, and Ashley Henderson; eleven great grandchildren, Natasha LeBlanc, Chad Romero,II, Challi Romero, Chase Callahan, Derek Callahan, Trevor Georgia, Chance Desormeaux, Jaden Romero, Jordan Romero, Lauren Callahan, and Morgan Callahan ; five great great grandchildren, Arabella LeBlanc, Sydney Romero, Lane Romero, Liam Callahan, and Natalie Callahan; two nephews, Mason Broussard and Francis Plaisance; and two nieces, Mary Reed Racca and Ann Reed Hardy. He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Anna Rose Vincent Reed; his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Stelly Reed; a daughter, Katherine Reed, three brothers, Silas Reed, Newman Reed, and Steven Reed; and three sisters, Phalia Reed Broussard, Lois Reed Plaisance, and Lorena Reed. Serving pallbearers will be Reid Romero, Chad Romero, Sean Romero, Sheb Callahan, Chase Callahan, and Trevor Georgia. The family wishes to thank Maison de Lafayette for all the care, kindness, and love given to our loved one. Also, special thanks to Leading Health Care, especially Misty Broussard, Margaret Desormeaux, and St. Joseph Hospice for the comfort we received through Carla Dutel.
