Jeanerette - Funeral services will be conducted for Gernice Hebert Lopez, age 91, on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Friday, November 14, 2014, from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 8:00 AM until the service time. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Friday at 6:00 PM. A native of Avery Island, a resident of New Iberia and longtime resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Lopez passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at 6:59 AM in a New Iberia nursing facility. She was a "Loving Mother and Grandmother". She loved to cook, read and especially loved her family. She is survived by children, Manuel Lopez and his wife Zella of Lafayette, Mitchell Lopez and his wife Tamie, Francine "Teeny" Forrester and her husband Danny all of New Iberia and Wendy Lopez and her companion Connie Moore of Dallas, TX; her grandchildren, Jonathan Louviere, Greg and Phillip Lopez, Angie Bond, Troy and Todd Forrester, Tracey Neisser, Brach Lopez, Shelly Holleman, Mary and Virginia Lopez and ten great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis E. Lopez, Sr.; her parents, Aristel and Marcelite Broussard Hebert; her son, Francis "Sonny" Lopez, Jr.; her daughter, Joyce Louviere; her sisters, Shirley Halphen, Margaret LeBlanc and Jeanette Vincent and her brothers, Lawrence, Laurie, Mickey and Aristel Hebert. Pallbearers will be Brach Lopez, Troy Forrester, Todd Forrester, Greg Lopez, Phil Lopez and Jonathan Louviere.
