Jeanerette- Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Alethia Marie Freeman Hebert, age 78, on Monday December 8, 2014 at David Funeral Home at 2:00pm with her nephew, Pastor Anthony Freeman to serve as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Memorial Park. Visitation will begin on Sunday December 7, 2014 at 3:00pm and conclude at 10:00pm. Visitation will continue on Monday from 8:00am until service time. A native of Russellville, AR and a resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Hebert passed away on Thursday December 4, 2014 at 6:38pm at a local hospital. Mrs. Hebert was a Supervisor at Jeanerette Mills for over 28 years before her retirement and played a key role in bringing the Fruit of the Loom Company to Jeanerette. She also was a school teacher at the Jeanerette Academy for 3 years during the 1960's. Mrs. Hebert enjoyed puzzle books and faithfully reading her bible every day. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren was her favorite thing to do and she always looked forward to grandparent's day at school. Mrs. Hebert's faithful devotion and fighting spirit allowed her to defeat cancer. She was a Leukemia survivor of 31 years. Mrs. Hebert was well liked and will be missed by many. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Dixie H. Slaughter and husband Walter of Broussard, Jody S. Hebert and wife Velma of New Iberia, Mike Hebert and wife Cathy of Jeanerette, Nancy Landry and husband Scott Sr. of Jeanerette; daughter-in-law, May Hebert; grandchildren, Pam Redden and husband Kevin of Cypress, TX, Brett Ulbig of Longview, TX, Rafe Hebert and wife Samantha of Youngsville, Jarred Slaughter and wife Blake of New Iberia, Zack Slaughter of New Iberia, Jodi McInnis and husband Dustin of New Iberia, Jordy Hebert of Brookhaven, MS, Jeffery Lowe Sr. of Loreauville, Stephen Hebert, Hollie Bishop and husband Torey, Scott Landry Jr. and wife Sarah, Christopher and Brandon Landry all of Jeanerette; brother, Gaylon Freeman and wife Nancy of TX; sister, Sherry Rossignol and husband Ray of CA; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; and her four beloved dogs, Precious, Jake, Banjo, and Sherman. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Farley Adolph Hebert; parents, George and Annie Griffe Freeman; daughters, Gale Loesch, Debbie Hebert; grandson, John Lowe Jr.; brother, George; sisters, Jewel and Lucille; mother-in-law, Corrine Langlinais; and father-in-law, Vernest Hebert. Honorary to serve as Pallbearers are Mrs. Hebert's grandsons, Rafe Hebert, Stephen Hebert, Jordy Hebert, Scott Landry Jr., Christopher Landry, and Brandon Landry.
