Erath - A Mass of Christian Burial for Ronald Joseph Vidallia age 67, will be held on Thursday December 18, 2014 at 3:30PM in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Melancon officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes mausoleum. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Thursday December 18, 2014 from 9:00AM until time of service. There will be a Masonic ceremony beginning at 12:00PM on Thursday December 18, 2014. A Rosary will be prayed at 2:00pm on Thursday December 18, 2014 in the funeral home. Ronald Joseph Vidallia was born December 14, 1947 in Erath, La and passed away December 15, 2014 at his residence in Erath. He enjoyed family, friends, training dogs, taking care of his yard, watching movies and an avid fan of the Denver Broncos. Mr. Vidallia was also passionate about the service and protection of others. He dedicated his life's work to law enforcement. He was a Vermilion parish deputy for over fifteen years, on the Erath Police Department for more than eight years, and was the Chief of the Chitimacha Tribal Police Department for over five years. Mr. Vidallia was also a Mason for over twenty years. Mr. Vidallia is survived by two daughters; Stacey Mire of Abbeville, and Kimmy Vidallia of Broussard, one step-son; Bret Paul Broussard of Delcambre, one step-daughter; Tressa Broussard of Delcambre, one brother; Larry Vidallia (Patsy) of Erath, two grandchildren; Zachary Mire and Holley Mire both of Erath, six step-grandchildren; Taylor Carlin, Ridge Lasalle, Rylee Vincent, Brayton Broussard, Sirae Broussard and Dax Broussard all of Erath, one great-grandchild; Catherine Grace Saunier, and a Host of Nieces and Nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Cheryl Trahan Vidallia, and his parents Joseph N. Vidallia and the former Emma Loignon. Pallbearers will be Troy Touchet, Chucky Smith, Timmy Trahan, Zachary Mire, Seth Vidallia and Brett Broussard. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Vidallia, and Charlie Vincent.
