A native of Loreauville and a resident of New Iberia, Miss. Boutte passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2014, at 10:15 AM in a New Iberia hospital. Born in Loreauville, on April 30, 1916, to Irma Prince Boutte and Achille Joseph Boutte. Therese Marie Boutte, known as Tel, resided in New Iberia, served in the military during World War II and worked 30 plus years for Bell South (now AT&T). She took care of Helen, her younger sister, (who was left paralyzed from the waist down) from several strokes during her (Helen) 60's until she (Tel) fell and broke her back. She belonged to the Order of the Carmelite Nuns. In her younger days, she was very particular, very neat, very kind, generous and quite feisty & sassy. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Joseph "Joe" Boutte, Albert "Bo-Lo" Boutte, Louis "Hugh" Boutte, Raoul "Ram" Boutte, Otto "To-Boy" Boutte, Edward Boutte and Claude Boutte; her sisters, Lucille "Luce" Foreman, Celine "Sally" McCroskey and Helen "Bayonne" Boutte; her nephews, Sidney "Sonny" and James "Jim Bo" Foreman, Perk Boutte, Carroll Boutte, Gerald "Toke" Boutte and Ralph Boutte; her nieces, Joyce Boutte, Margaret McCroskey and Phyllis Foreman Bosarge; her great nephews, Ronald "Bookie" Boutte and Michael McCroskey and her great niece, Patti Wedms. The family would like to give special "thanks" to, Father Buddy Breaux, Pastor of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Loreauville, the 3rd floor staff at Dauterive Hospital, Dr. LaHasky & Staff, as well as Dr. Sigue and Hospice Compassus for being so kind during her final days. Would also like to thank her prior sitters, Angela, Michue, Lena, Pat and especially Maryann who was so good to her & Helen. Thanks to Belle Teche Nursing Home & Staff for treating Tel & Helen so well while they were residents there. A big "thanks" to Tel's niece, Carolyn Boutte, a teacher in Baton Rouge who was able to be with Tel during her last days. Carolyn was the closest Tel had to a daughter. Great "thanks" go to Michelle (Boutte) Estave (great niece) and Morgan Estave (great, great niece) who were always there when she needed and who loved her dearly. The family's biggest debt of gratitude, however, is to nephew Leslie Boutte and his wife of fifty years Bobbie Boutte. It was Bobbie who took care of the details of the lives of Therese and Helen for so many years, making sure that they were happy and well cared for. I know Tel would say: thanks and thanks for coming. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
