New Iberia - Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Louis Richard, the former Lillie Louviere, 91, on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 10:00 AM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Father William Blanda officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Friday, January 2, 2015, from 5:00 PM until 10:00 PM and resume on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Friday at 6:00 PM. Mrs. Louis Richard, the former Lillie Mae Louviere was a native of Avery Island and a resident of New Iberia. She passed away at her home following a brief illness on December 27, 2014. She and her husband Louis, who was in the Air Force, were stationed in New Orleans, Bossier City, San Antonio, TX, Macon, GA, Orlando, FL, Baton Rouge and Biloxi, MS before retiring to New Iberia. While in Baton Rouge, she graduated from secretarial college, where she made the highest score recorded, and after graduating, she was employed with the Louisiana State Parole Board and the Louisiana State Retirement System. She was a loving wife and mother. Lillie was an avid reader, and loved reading to children - her younger siblings, her daughter, and numerous nieces, and nephews, as well as helping them with homework and encouraging their creativity. She is survived by her daughter, Penny Elizabeth Richard, currently of New Iberia. She is also survived by her goddaughter, Mary Richard Lopez of Baton Rouge; her brother-in law- and sister-in law, Howard and Irene Richard of Loreauville; two nieces who were like daughters to her, Ann Richard Pommier and Janet Richard Prioux of New Iberia; three great nieces Kylie Prioux Dartez of New Iberia, Billie Prioux Mier of Youngsville, and Katie Dance of New Iberia and one great nephew, Christopher Prioux, of New Iberia who were like grandchildren to her; and a host of other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Louis Richard; her parents Cesaire "Pete" Louviere and Lilly Fontz Louviere; brothers Elton Louviere, Edward Peter Louviere, Percy Louviere, Matthew Louviere, Andy Louviere, and Lambert Louviere; sisters Myrtle L. Rogers, Emily L. Delcambre, Cecil L. Morgan, and Elsie L. Davis (goddaughter); and godson Kenwood Louviere. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Prioux, Gil Pommier, Craig Lopez, Richard Romero, Shane Perez and Casey Lopez. Honorary pallbearers include Scott Louviere, Keith Louviere, Wayne Horton, David Soileau, Tyler Louviere and Christopher Prioux. The family would like to thank Iberia Parish Council on Aging Meals on Wheels program and Nursing Specialties Home Health. The assistance of these two agencies served an integral part in Mrs. Richard's ability to be allowed to age in place at her home. The family would also like to express its great appreciation to Hospice of Acadiana for assisting in Mrs. Richard's transition.
