Elizabeth R. "Bit" Boutte

July 14, 1916 — January 3, 2015

New Iberia - Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Otto J. Boutte, the former Elizabeth Rabeaux, 98, on Tuesday January 6, 2015 at David Funeral Home Chapel at 2:30 pm with Father Ed Degeyter to serve as the celebrant. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Loreauville. Visitation will begin Tuesday morning at 10:30 am and conclude at 2:15 pm before service time. Mrs. Boutte passed away on Saturday January 3, 2015 at 3:17 pm at a Lafayette retirement home. Elizabeth was born July 14, 1916 in Youngsville, LA and was the fourth child of Joseph and Marie Rabeaux. She was known to her family and friends as "Bit". Her siblings were her best friends. Even though tiny in stature, she could be a spitfire when tested. Aunt Bit was loving and caring as she helped just about everyone in her family at one time or another. God has called her home and we will miss her love. She is survived by her two sisters, Lorraine R. O'Neal of Lafayette, LA and Hazel R. Sutherland of Framingham, MA, and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marie Touchet Rabeaux; husband, Otto "Toboy" Boutte; two brothers, Davis and Robert "Bobby" Rabeaux; seven sisters, Louise R. Gary, Louisa R. Vincent, Lillian Rabeaux, Eunice R. Besse, Gladys R. Landry, Winnie R. Broussard, and Barbara Blanchard. The honor of serving as pallbearers will be upheld by the nephews of Mrs. Boutte. As Mrs. Boutte's Patron Saint was St. Jude, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
