Lafayette - A Private Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, February 7, 2015 at St. Anne Catholic Church for Barnett "Duke" Julian Earles Jr., age 80, who passed away at Lafayette General Medical Center January 17, 2015. Barnett Julian Earles Jr., was born February 8, 1934. He was a native of Crowley, La., and a resident of Youngsville, where he attended St. Anne Catholic Church. He graduated from Crowley High School in 1951. Duke continued his education by attending the University of Southwestern Louisiana where he received his bachelor's degree, then Louisiana State University where he received his master's degree in Geology. After his schooling, he joined the Air Force. He served his country from March 1956 until August 1963. The companies he worked after he was honorably discharged were Western Auto in Crowley, Philco Ford and Maytag Corporation. Most of his life his hobbies included playing tennis and fishing. Duke was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife; Mary Ann LeLeux Toney Earles of Youngsville, two daughters; Donna Earles Dauterive (Dr. Edward "Ned") of New Iberia, and Karen Faith Earles-Pace (Andrew) of Placerville, CA, two sons; Barnett J. Earles, III (Janet) of Charlotte, NC, Cory D. Earles (Cathy) of Colfax, CA, three step sons; Brian Toney, Russell Toney, and Michael Toney (Jaimey) all of Crowley, two step daughters; Linda Lacombe (Bradley) of Crowley, and Kathleen "Kitty" Ogea (Eric) of Covington, three brothers; Kenneth Donald Earles of Crowley, Richard Dennis Earles of Crowley, and Dana Dow Earles (Cherie) of Phoenix, AZ, nine grandchildren; Christine Earles Sledge (Neal) of Charlotte, NC, Jeffrey Earles (Allyson) of Findlay, OH, Patrick Earles of Charlotte, NC, Dr. Edward W. Dauterive (Gretchen) of Temple, TX, Dr. Matthew Earles Dauterive of Tulsa, OK, Frances Dauterive of New Orleans, Amanda Pace of Placerville, CA, Sarah Pace of Sacramento, CA, and Jenna Earles Summers (Josh) of Rocklin, CA, fifteen step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his former wife; Frances Miller Earles, parents; Barnett Julian Earles Sr., and the former Gladys Crawford, brother; Crawford Henry Earles.
