Lafayette ? A private memorial services for Rush D. French, 79, will be held Thursday January 29, 2015 at 10:00 am, in David Funeral Home with Dr. Ron Dubois officiating. Rush ?Frenchie? Delano French, born in Whitesville, West Virginia passed away January 26, 2015 in Lafayette, Louisiana, just one day shy of his 80th birthday. Rush was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and United States Navy. After enlisting at the age of 16, he served for 20 years, serving aboard the USS Forrestal and USS Lexington. Following his service career, Frenchie worked at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, FL where he retired after 25 years. Frenchie was a member of the Warrington Elks Lodge, Post 2108, where he and his wife Cathy, volunteered for various community service projects and charities. He loved music. He and Cathy performed with their band, The French Connection and he loved playing his trumpet nearly every day until his health prevented him from doing so.Frenchie leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Conception ?Cathy? Sidari French, son Steve Ercoli and his wife Melody; Grandchildren: Katina Ercoli Cormier, Gregory Ercoli and his wife Jennifer; Great-Grandchildren: Haden, Kadee, Chad, Caleb, and Riley; Nieces: Michelle French Gillis, Deborah French Jukoski, Sherri Ann Blanton Guinn, Tina Blanton, Gina Blanton Dye and their families; Nephew: Kenny Bob French and his family; and numerous friends.
