New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward Irvin Ransonet, age 66, will be held Monday February 2, 2015 at 2:00pm at St. Marcellus Catholic Church with Father Eugene Tremie officiating. Reading from scripture will be Christine Ransonet, Emily Kyzar, and Roman Wesley. Gift bearers will be Alexia Wesley, Alayah Wesley, and Abigail Maturin. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home in New Iberia on Sunday February 1, 2015 from 11:00am until 10:00pm, with recitation of the rosary at 1:00pm. Visitation will resume on Monday February 2, 2015 at 8:30am until time of service. A native of Iberia Parish and resident of Lydia, "Rookie", as he was known by family and friends, passed away on Wednesday January 28, 2015 at his residence in New Iberia. Retired from over forty years as a heavy equipment operator in the oil industry, "Rookie" spent his time practicing woodworking, partying, dancing, and surrounding himself with family. He loved his kids and grandkids, and could make anyone smile with his comedic ways. "Rookie" loved life, and always found a way to have a good time. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Ransonet; daughters, Tina Ransonet Roy, Ginger Maturin and her husband Chad; step daughter, Crissy Wesley and her husband Roman; brothers Earl Ransonet and his wife Joyce, Clifford Ransonet and his wife Wanita, Anthony Ransonet and his wife Marcelle, Peter Ransonet and companion Betty Alleman; sisters, Emily Kyzar and her husband James, and Carolyn Hart and her husband Russel Jr.; Grandchildren include Aiden Maturin, Abigail Maturin, Dusti Ransonet, Joshua Roy, and Briley Roy; Step Grandchildren include Alexia, Alayah, Aaliyah , and Alivia Wesley, and a host of nieces and nephews. "Rookie" was preceded in death by his father, Victor Irvin Ransonet; mother, Alida Leleux Ransonet; brothers, Harold Ransonet and Gerald Ransonet, and stepson Ryan Touchet. Those upholding the honor of pallbearer include Clifford Ransonet, Peter Ransonet, Anthony Ransonet, Roland Duhon, Mark Duhon, and Roman Wesley. Honorary Pallbearers include Aiden Maturin, Joshua Roy, Briley Roy, and Chad Maturin.
