Lafayette- A Mass of Christian Burial for Alvin Joseph Menard, age 83, will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday February 3, 2015 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Youngsville, LA with Fr. Jason Mouton officiating at the services. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Monday, February 2, 2015 from 5:00PM until 9:00PM with a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00PM at the funeral home and will resume Tuesday February 2, 2015 at 8:00AM until service time. Interment will follow in St. Anne Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Alvin Joseph Menard was a resident of Youngsville, La., and was a parishioner of St. Anne Catholic Church. He was married to the lovely Hilda Menard in 1952. He served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952 and was a Private First Class in the Airborne division as a Paratrooper. He was also a member of the third and fourth degree Knights of Columbus, Broussard Council 7557. Mr. Menard had many hobbies which included hunting, fishing, playing golf, bowling, gardening, playing baseball, and football. He was mostly known for his boxing. Mr. Menard was a National Champion by the age of 16 and continued until the end of high school. She is survived by his loving wife of 62 years; the former Hilda Champagne of Youngsville, one son; Kevin Menard (David) of New York, one daughter; Kimberly Menard Clancy (Pat) of Youngsville, one sister; Belva Menard Costello (Greg) of Youngsville, one grandchild; Brandon Clancy, two step-grandchildren; Austin Clancy(Lauren), and Ben Clancy, two step-great-grandchildren; Liam Clancy, and Finn Clancy, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by His parents; Eddie Menard Sr. and the former Gladys Cormier, five brothers; Lawrence Menard, Floyd Menard, Aaron Menard, Earl Menard, and Eddie Menard Jr., and one sister; Anna Grace Menard Bourque Pallbearers will be, Kevin Menard, Pat Clancy, David Lawenda, Brandon Clancy, Austin Clancy, and Ben Clancy.
