Rosemary Chaney Patout

Jeanerette - Memorial services will be conducted for Rosemary Chaney Patout, 93, on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Jody Simoneaux officiating. Inurnment will follow in St. John Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be at David Funeral Home at 400 Provost St. in Jeanerette on Friday, February 27, 2015, from 4:30 PM until 8:30 PM. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Friday at 6:00 PM. A native of Jeanerette, a resident of Lafayette and a longtime resident of Jeanerette, Mrs. Patout passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015, at 2:15 AM. She was a school teacher with the Iberia Parish School Board for 20 Years. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree from USL now known as UL of Lafayette. After retiring from the Iberia Parish School Board she established and co-owned Red Top Antique Store in Jeanerette. She was a member of the Garden Club, Sewing Club, Entre Nous Club, Sip & Stich and served on the Jeanerette Museum Board. She is survived by her daughter, Laurie Patout Legnon and her husband Kenneth of Lafayette; her son, John Scott Patout and his wife Verna of Houston, TX; her grandchildren, Renee Legnon Richards and her husband Bradley, Lindsay A. Legnon, MD and her companion Sarah Buchanan all of Lafayette, Julie Patout Penrod and her husband David, Lauren Patout and Elizabeth Patout Long and her husband Nicholas all of Houston, TX and her great grandchildren, Landon Richards, Avery Rose Richards, Jacob Long and Claire Long. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Patout; her father, Edgar Lincoln Chaney, Sr.; her mother, Mable Ring Chaney and her brothers, John Edgar Chaney and Edgar Lincoln Chaney, Jr. The family would like to give a special appreciation and thank you to Romellida Brown, Cornerstone Village South and Heart of Hospice.
