New Iberia- A private family service was held for Mrs. Brenda Jean Bourgeois, age 61, on Monday, March 2, 2015 at David Funeral Home of New Iberia. Mrs. Bourgeois passed away in Houma on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 7:27am. In keeping with her wishing, she was cremated. Mrs. Bourgeois loved her children and grandchildren greatly, and would do anything to help her family in need. She loved travelling, especially visiting California, relaxing on the beach, shopping, and taking boat rides. At home, she loved arts and crafts. Mrs. Bourgeois was a fighter to the end, and will be remembered for her unconditional love and dedication to those dear to her. She is survived by her daughter, Natalie Bourgeois and fiancé Roland Thibodeaux; son, Nicholas Bourgeois and fiancée Brooke Lustman; son, Noah Thoms; grandson Cayden Bourgeois; a grandchild on the way; and best friend and former husband Bobby Bourgeois, all of New Iberia. Sister, LuAnne Frazier and husband Eddie of Vancouver, WA; brother, Kim Thoms of California; and former sister-in-law, Jan Bourgeois of West Lake. She is preceded in death by her father, Douglas Thoms; mother; Evalou Johnson Thoms; step-father, Donald Rankin; and infant son, Kyle Bourgeois. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Lafayette General Hospital for their compassion and care.
