Lydia - Funeral services will be conducted for Leward Paul "L P" Meche, 85, on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at 11:00 AM at St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Father Gregory Chauvin officiating. Burial will follow in St. Nicholas Mausoleum in Patoutville. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, at 8:00 AM until the time of service. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Tuesday at 6:30 PM. A native of Rayne and a resident of Lydia, Mr. Meche passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 6:38 PM at his residence. He retired from Shell Oil Co. after 32 years of employment. He was a horse trainer and loved going to the horse races. He was a crawfisherman and loved crawfish boils. He also loved playing Bouree'. He was a wonderful provider and a great "Paw Paw". He is survived by his wife, Joyce Lancon Meche of Lydia; his sons, Carl Meche and his wife Dawn of Charenton and Blaine Meche and his wife Karen of Lydia; his daughters, Christine Meche of Lafayette and Melanie Robin and her husband Kent of Lydia; his sister Iva Thibodeaux of Lydia; his grandchildren, David, Ryan, Taylor, Kyle and Dylan Meche, Cealeb Young, Scylar Miller, Kalem Romero, Emily and Elizabeth Robin; his great grandchildren, Davi Vincent, Josh, McKinzie, Kaine and Miles Meche and her great great grandchild, Reese Vincent. He was preceded in death by his father, Emar Meche; his mother, Emily Bearb Meche; his sister, Helen Rivet and his brother, Irvin Meche. Pallbearers will be Carl, Blaine, Chris, Kyle, Ryan and Dylan Meche. Honorary pallbearer will be Melanie Robin.
