New Iberia- Funeral services for Mr. Charles "Tookie" Hebert, age 70, will be held on Wednesday April 1, 2015 at 10:30am at the David Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Ed Degeyter to serve as the Celebrant. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will begin on Tuesday March 31, 2015 at 10:00am until 10:00pm with a recitation of the rosary at 7:00pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday April 1, 2015 from 8:00am until service time. A native of Jefferson Island, and resident of New Iberia, "Tookie" as he was affectionately known passed away on Saturday March 28, 2015 at 8:41am at a local hospital. "Tookie" retired from Borden Dairy Farm, Cox Communications, and Holsum Bread Company after many years of employment. He was a great father, loved bowling, woodworking, fishing, gardening, and anything to do with the great outdoors. He also proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He is survived by his daughter, Regina Hebert Steele and husband James "Mitch" of New Iberia; granddaughters, Priscilla Marie Gunnells Romero of New Iberia; Aurielle Jeaun Romero and her best friend Marty of Lafayette; Brianna Rachelle Romero of Lafayette; Victoria Elizabeth Romero and significant other Adam Tauzin of New Iberia; Crystal Dawn Steele of New Iberia; Grandsons, Zain Daniel Romero of New Iberia; Zachary John Romero of New Iberia; Charlie James Mitchell Steele of New Iberia; great-grandchildren, Tabitha Renée Romero; Tyler Delos Dupré; Tatum Bell Romero; Crysley Ann Breaux; Tobie Ray Mitchell Steele; brother, Webster J. Hebert Jr. and wife Irene of New Iberia; brother, Kerney James Hebert of New Iberia; and brother-in-law, Gerald Derouen of New Iberia. He is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Ann Derouen Hebert; father Webster J. Hebert Sr.; mother Ruby Blanchard Hebert; and daughter Rachel June Hebert Romero. Those upholding the honor of pallbearer include: Webster Hebert Jr., Charles Steele, Sidney Thibodeaux, Tony Metzal, Mitch Steele, and Tim Broussard. Honorary Pallbearers include Kerney Hebert and Vergil Louviere.
