Nelson Joseph Trahan "Don't Be Sad, Be Happy Because I Am" Jeanerette - Funeral services will be conducted for Nelson Joseph Trahan, 71, on Monday, April 6, 2015, at 1:00 PM in the David Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Chris Hollway and Rev. Bobby Hadknot officiating. Burial will follow in Beau Pre Memorial Park Cemetery with Full Military Graveside Rites conducted by the U. S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Monday, April 6, 2015, from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. A native of Vermilion Parish and a resident of Jeanerette, Mr. Trahan passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at 3:14 AM at his residence with his family by his side. He retired from the U. S. Army after twenty-one years of service and served during the Viet Nam Era. He then was employed with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers for 10 years and moved back to Jeanerette and did contract computer science until his retirement. Above all he loved God the most. He had two black belts in Karate. He loved French Music and playing his Cajun Accordion. He spent a lot of time searching the World Wide Web. He also loved watching TV especially Garfield and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Hebert Trahan of Jeanerette; his sons, Chad Trahan and his wife Pam of Napoleonville and Eric Trahan and his companion, Leslie Bourque of Jeanerette; his daughter, Jill Lanclos and her husband Blaine of Centerville; his brothers, Jessie Trahan and his wife Anne of Cow Island and Ellery Trahan and his wife Tammy of Abbeville; his sisters, Velta Trahan of Kaplan, Juanita Sonnier and her husband Jim of Carencro, Gloria Marceaux and her husband Melvin of Kaplan and Betty Vaughn of Lafayette and his grandchildren, Jenna Fontenot and her husband Jonathan of Thibodeaux, Kayla Trahan of Napoleonville, Amber, Landon and Noah Lanclos all of Centerville. He was preceded in death by his father, Desire Trahan; his mother, Celestine Frederick Trahan and his brother, Floyd Trahan. Pallbearers will be Chad, Eric, Ellery, Aaron and Rocky Trahan and Blaine Lanclos. Honorary pallbearers will be Landon and Noah Lanclos.
