Loreauville - Funeral services will be conducted for Mayor Albert Antoine "Al" Broussard, Jr., 65, on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Buddy Breaux officiating. Burial will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. Visitation will be at David Funeral Home in Loreauville on Monday, April 6, 2015, from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM and resume at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at 9:00 AM until the service time. A rosary will be prayed in the funeral home on Monday at 7:00 PM by the Men's Cursillo Rosary Group. A native and resident of Loreauville, Mayor Broussard passed away on Friday, April 3, 2015, at 7:40 PM in New Iberia. He served and was a 1st Lieut. in the Louisiana National Guard. Mayor Broussard served as Alderman in Loreauville for 24 years prior to being elected Mayor and was in his third term. He was a retired Sales Representative for Helena Chemical Company and currently a Sales Representative for 3-D Chemical/Sanders. He was the owner of Broussard Ag Consultants and was a Certified Crop Advisor. He was a lifetime member and board member of Coastal Conservation Association, a member of the Knights of Columbus in Loreauville and also served as Grand Knight and a former member of the Loreauville Jaycees. He was a member and Past Commander of Acadiana Power Squadron and a member of US Power Squadron. He is the current Chairman of Projet Nouvelle-Acadie. He was a Past Commodore of the Cypermort Yacht Club and a member and Past King of the Krewe of Cypermort Sippers. He was a life time member of the Broussard Family Association. He was a Cursillo Brother and for two hours a week he attended the Adoration Chapel at the Assumption Chapel at the Community of Jesus Crucified. He was an avid outdoorsman with a love for landscaping and cooking, especially his weekly "SLAP" (Sunday lunch at Popsie's) Known to his family as "Popsie" he was survived by his fiancée, Phyllis Berard Savoy of Loreauville; his son, Jeff Broussard and his wife Monique of Loreauville; his daughters, Alison Broussard Saunier and her husband Chris of Loreauville and Ashlie Broussard Boutte and her husband Chase of Lafayette; his sister, Harriet Broussard Boudreaux and her husband Carroll of Loreauville; his grandchildren, Kylin Broussard, Kagon Broussard, Sophia Saunier and Cameron Boutte; his fiancée's children, Terrell Savoy of Carencro and Ryan Savoy and his wife T. J. of Lafayette and his fiancée's grandchildren, Cade, Evan and Cole Savoy. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Abby Gail Dugas Broussard; his father, Albert Antoine Broussard, Sr. and his mother, Jeanne Bourque Broussard. Pallbearers will be Glenn LeBlanc, Mike Oubre, Kylin Broussard, Carroll Boudreaux, Ryan Savoy and Terrell Savoy. Honorary pallbearers will be Kagon Broussard, Toby Dugas, Jimmy Defelice, Chanse Boudreaux, J. R. Boudreaux, Chris Saunier and Chase Boutte.
